Ok, so there are more than 3 things you need to know about B-12, but we wanted to say “3” to get your attention.  We aren’t 100% sure why using numbers gets attention, but if you’re reading this, it worked!

There’s actually a lot of people that aren’t aware of the importance of B-12, moreover, the effect a deficiency of B-12 can have.

What is B-12?

B-12 is an essential water-soluble vitamin that plays a key part in how your body function.  Energy production, neurological function, DNA synthesis, and red blood cell formation to name a few.  Really, the big picture is the metabolism of every cell, nerve and blood, in the body depends on vitamin B-12.  And, because it helps make DNA, the genetic material in all cells, it’s critical to have enough B-12 working for you. If you become deficient, it can present in different ways.

Such As:

1. Depression

2. Dizziness

3. Fatigue

There are more symptoms that can reveal, of course, but these three are easily noticed.  We all tend to run on overdrive these days but, if you’re feeling more tired than normal, or a bit down and dizzy…don’t wait, get your B-12 levels checked.

The great news is it’s something that’s easily treated.  You can take oral supplements, do injections and or include in IV therapy.   A benefit of injection and or IV  B-12 supplementing is that it bypasses the stomach and is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, making it quickly available for use.

Additionally, it can be a better option than oral supplements for those who have gastrointestinal issues, including older adults who have low levels of stomach acid.
